Thank you for a great time Jenn & Jeff!

Oh Janine!
You are truly an amazing artist. The photos are absolutely beautiful--they brought tears to my eyes. I don't know how, but you managed to capture the humor and playfulness of our day, along with the incredible scenery and just how much fun it was to be with everyone we love.
Words can't adequately describe our gratitude. Thank you so much.

Exhibit at Beatnik Studios

I was invited to participate in a collective exhibit along with other members of the Focus Group - a gathering of Sacramento photographers - at the Beatnik Studios and Gallery. I chose to display four images from "Retratos no Mercado," a series of portraits I created this past June in my hometown of Fortaleza, CE Brasil. This project came when I was asked to photograph the city's oldest market from my own point of view. I was immediately drawn to the butchers.

Our Wedding Magazine

The editor of Our Wedding Magazine selected my images of the wedding of Lauren and Tom Muscatine to be profiled in the "local affair" section of the Fall/Winter 2008 issue. Lauren and Tom married on September 1st 2007 at Tom's family vineyard in Napa. I am happy to know Lauren has just given birth to their first child, the lovely Lavender.

editing, editing, and more editing...
In preparation for "Retratados," my first solo exhibit in Brasil, which will open in late august at the Instituto da Fotografia do Ceará (The State Institute of Photography) I have been editing like a mad woman. Some believe that this is the most important part of the entire photographic process. It is in editing that we decide which of the numerous split seconds we captured to make visible to a wider audience. This image was created by my friend and fellow photographer James Wong, who was visiting me in Brasil for a few weeks.

sliding down the dune!

For US$3 I glided down the massive dune on a wooden slide, feeling the clean air on my face as my hands and feet brushed the smooth sand at several miles an hour. Then I had to climb my way back up! I did this three times and left wanting more!
